Heavy Equipment / Shop Mechanic 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment and diesel-powered machinery
  • Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and component replacements
  • Respond to service calls and complete work orders accurately
  • Maintain fleet reliability for steel mill and mobile equipment operations
  • Utilize diagnostic software and maintenance systems to track repairs
  • Communicate equipment status and parts needs with site leadership
  • Other duties as required

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • 3-5 years of mechanical experience with heavy equipment and a strong working knowledge of hydraulics, powertrain, electronic/electrical systems, diesel engines, Cat SIS, Cummins INSITE, Volvo Penta, etc.
  • At least 2 years of heavy equipment maintenance and repair
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Experience with diagnostic software
  • Ability to work independently and make sound troubleshooting decisions
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable record
  • Must have your own tools from ¼ inch to 1 inch drive impact wrenches, socket sets, and wrenches up to 2 inches
  • Willingness to work shift schedules, overtime, and occasional weekends
